This protocol is built-in in most modern operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, iOS, Android and others.
L2TP stands for Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol. It is a session layer VPN protocol. If implemented without IPSec, it doesn’t encrypt the traffic. Therefore, your connection can be intercepted. L2TP alone is good for rerouting, your traffic but does not give extra security for your internet connection. Please check if your VPN provider supports IPSec for L2TP to ensure the confidentiality of your traffic.
